Drunken man crashes through ceiling of downtown St. Petersburg restaurant.
Inside Fortunato’s Italian Market, customers were scarfing down late-night meals when foam began to fall from the ceiling.
Soon, the patrons told police, a man came tumbling after, crashing to the floor inside the restaurant in the 200 block of Central Avenue.
The man, identified as James Donald Olsen, 24, of Riverview was described as “so intoxicated” in an arrest report. Officers could not figure out how he had gotten into the space above the drop ceiling. He fell through about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, investigators said.
Damage from Olsen’s big fall was estimated at more than $1,000 in repairs, according to the report.
He faces a charge of criminal mischief.
